About this desk

lloydsbsbs publishes notes. It does not take in furniture.

A compact living room with a fabric sofa, pale cabinet doors, and a dark timber floor
Illustrative interior. It is not the correspondence address and not a showroom.

The site is an independent reading desk about furniture care and repair topics that come up in London homes: movement in timber, marks in a finish, cloth and leather, loose joints, veneers, and the metal or plastic parts that let a door or a drawer move. The publisher’s name on these pages is lloydsbsbs. Pages are issued in the name of that publisher. They are not signed by an invented craftsperson, and they do not carry testimonials.

The correspondence address is 55 Dalston Ln, London E8 2NG. The telephone is +44 20 7749 1780. Those details are for questions about the website. They are not a counter for leaving a chair, and they are not a booking line. The contact page splits the three email addresses by purpose.

The name is specific to this website. lloydsbsbs is not a bank, an insurer, a market, or a repair contractor, and it is not affiliated with organisations that use a similar word in their name. That limit is repeated in the bar at the top of every page and on the disclaimer.

What the notes cover

  • How timber changes size with the air in a heated or damp room.
  • How to describe wear in a finish without sanding it first.
  • What cloth, pile, leather, and coated surfaces show at seams and corners.
  • What a loose joint is doing, and when to stop forcing it.
  • How veneer, solid wood, laminate, and printed foil differ at the edge.
  • Which measurements and photographs describe a hinge or a runner.
  • How window light, radiators, and older paint change the next step.

What they leave out

  • Prices, packages, and calls to book a repair.
  • Rankings, awards, certificates, and named reviews.
  • Claims that a method is certain, official, or safe in every case.
  • Photographs presented as the publisher’s own workshop or staff.
  • Instructions for stripping unknown old paint into household dust.

How a page is chosen and corrected is set out in the editorial policy. Use of the pages is set out in the terms of use.

How a page is dated

Each note shows a publication date and an update date. The update date changes when the wording changes in a way a reader should notice: a clearer warning, a corrected distinction, or a new cross-link. It does not change merely because the year turned. The catalogue lists both kinds of date.

Photographs come from stock libraries and are stored on this site. Captions say they are illustrative. A picture of a bench, a sofa, or a pair of hands is there to show a material or a kind of light. It is not evidence of a premises at the Dalston Lane address.

If a sentence is wrong, write to [email protected] with the page address and the sentence. The editorial policy explains what happens next. There is no public comment thread on the pages.
